Accreditation, Foundation and Ideals
The headmistress, Mrs Natalie A. Covell, BA, MSc, is a member of the prestigious Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools. IAPS keeps member schools up to date on new developments, provides a range of in-service training, and regulates standards by means of frequent and rigorous inspections run by the Independent Schools Inspectorate.
In the most recent report from the ISI, Yarrells was highly commended and its excellence recognised. In addition, OFSTED inspects the Early Years department and provision for under 3’s and out-of-hours childcare; all were recently designated OFSTED OUTSTANDING. Inspection reports are available online or copies can be requested from us.
Foundation and Ideals
The school was founded as St. Monica’s in 1927 by Miss E. Clark, a lady brimming with enthusiasm and affection. Her successors, Miss G. W. Jeanes and Mrs P. M. Badham, passed the school and its ideals on to Mr and Mrs Covell in 1992.
Yarrells today aims to provide the widest possible educational opportunities to the highest academic standards within a happy, enthusiastic, family atmosphere. Intellectual development is fuelled by a rich academic curriculum, ample physical activity and vibrant participation in the performing and visual arts. At Yarrells, originally a Christian foundation, children of all backgrounds are brought together to share a clear moral code built on love, care and respect for one another. Reasoned, articulate independence of thought and commitment to hard work are encouraged at all times.
