Who
are the Friends of Yarrells?
The group was set up to support the school, parents and pupils in
several ways.
One aim is to help fund-raise for additional extras that will benefit
the children. In previous years, we have raised money to buy
specialist reference books, a range
of climbing equipment, build an adventure trail in the woods, a play
frame, nursery ‘role play’ equipment, outdoor bench
seats and tables, specialised computer equipment and made many more
contributions.
The Friends also consider requests from the pupil-led Student Council as
it provides a good focus for the pupils to present their own ideas and
business plans for their own funded activities.
Another main aim is to create a welcoming
family atmosphere by way of various social events throughout the year.
The support of events such as the Fireworks Night, Christmas Fayre, Quiz
Night and Summer Fete events is testament to how much Yarrells pupils
and their families enjoy what goes on.
At the beginning of every term, we hold a Coffee Morning to welcome both
new and current parents - be sure to
come and meet some of the Friends Association and make contact with
other new and existing parents.
The elected committee, composed of parents and staff, works voluntarily
and has representatives at all levels of the school. An AGM is held every
September on the back of a very well attended Cheese and Wine Party. This is notified well in advance and
all are welcome to attend.
Lifetime Family membership of the Friends is a one-off payment of just
£10.00. This
helps us fund our communications while your child is in the school and
helps keep the network going with Old Yarrellians. The membership fee of £10.00 will be added to your first school bill.
Please feel free to delete this if you do not wish to join.
We hope that you
will want to join in with the Friends’ activities and have fun while
adding value to our children’s enjoyment of the School.
Thank you in advance for your interest and help.
