U11 Rounders Match V Clayesmore
On the 11th May Yarrells’ Year 6 went to Clayesmore for a Rounders match. We were very excited as it was our first match of the season. The girls warmed up and we won the toss so decided to field first. We got into our positions and started the game. We played really well and within five minutes we got a player out. By the time Clayesmore had had 27 good balls, we had caught four players out and Clayesmore had scored seven rounders. Then it was our turn to bat and within minutes both Zoës were caught out. Then our high scoring batter Laila had her go. She whacked it so hard that she managed to get a rounder. At the end of the innings, Izzie, Laila, Jen and Amber had scored us at least a rounder each and the score was 10½ - 7. We were winning!
We fielded again, much better this innings and managed to get five players out. Clayesmore had a total score of twelve rounders. It was our turn to bat and we had high hopes as the differences of both scores were very close. Zoë Schneider managed to hit the ball and get to second post. Then Laila hit the ball and scored another rounder! We were drawing with them! Then Isabel went to bat and she whacked it really hard. As she was running to second post the girl that was on there caught the ball and she dropped it again because it was hit so hard! By the time Izzie had touched fourth post, we had won! We made sure everyone had one go, but the rest failed to get round. We would like to thank Miss Spokes for taking us and the parents for supporting us.
