Yr 2/3 Tag Rugby v Dumpton
We were very excited that we were playing a Tag Rugby match against Dumpton School. When we got there we got changed and went into the match. It was very rainy and the pitch was very muddy. Our team was Lex, Lewis, Samuel, Liam, Eddie Philips, Oliver and myself. It was a very close match with lots of tries. We scored most of our tries in the corners; Dumpton scored most of their tries in the middle. The final score was 12-11 to Yarrells!!! Well played Dumpton.

Year 5/6 BCS Tag Rugby Tournament
On Wednesday 2nd February, Yarrells sent a team of Year 5’s and 6’s to BCS. We were the first ones there so we had a warm up. We practised our formations and passing.
Our first match was against Sunninghill. The first half started well, with both teams working together and scoring tries. By the end of the first half the score was 4-4. The second half started much like the first and at the end the score was 9-9. Our next match was against Moyles Court. Both teams played well, but some solid defence and attack put Yarrells ahead at half time. We carried on playing well and the final score was 9-6 to Yarrells. Our last group match was against BCS, who had proved to be good opponents in the past. With the help of some solid attacking by Yarrells and some sloppy defending by BCS we had a good lead at half time. BCS played better in the second half, but Yarrells had built up too much of a lead and won 11-5. We had won our group and had to play Buckholme Towers in the quarter finals.
The match started well for Yarrells and with Buckholme making some mistakes we had soon earned a lead at half time. In the second half, Buckholme picked up their game and had soon closed the gap but Yarrells held their nerve and won 9-5. We were through to the semi finals. In the semi finals, we were against St. Martins. Both teams played some great rugby and it was tight at half time. We went back on full of confidence and played some excellent rugby, winning the match 10-6. We were through to the final!
We were up against Sunninghill who we had drawn with in our first match. We knew this was going to be a tough match. We won the toss and chose to start first. Both teams played very well, but some slip-ups near the line meant the score at half time was 5-4 to Sunninghill. The second half was full of surprises but, in the end, Sunninghill pulled through winning 11-9.
I would like to say a big thank-you to Mr Schneider for coaching us, to all the parents who came along to watch and to the dinner ladies for the match tea. Great play Yarrells!
