Yarrells Win Swim Gala!

Year 3, 4 & 5 Swim Gala vs Clayesmore, Sunninghill & Leweston

Mr Williams reports… On Tuesday the years 3, 4 and 5 swimming squads travelled to Clayesmore to compete in an inter schools swimming gala against Leweston, Sunninghill and Clayesmore. Grace Crowe, Lottie Vavasour, Aimee Kelly, Jayden Coombes, and Elizabeth Dawson all registered wins in the 25m freestyle races.

Races followed quick and fast and next to go were the 25m Breaststroke races where Lottie, Jayden, Freya Blundell, Josh Somerville all won their races with Isla McPhail finishing second in her race.

Backstroke races then saw Elizabeth, Izzy Shrimpton, Josh Oxley, all recording wins and Aimee finishing second, Albert Johnson and Daisy Day both scoring the team important points with third placed finishes in two very close races. 

In the freestyle relays Yarrells teams showed their strength and depth across the four swimmers in each relay team, showing strong performances by year 3 mixed, year 4 boys, year 4 girls, year 5 girls all winning and also with the year 5 boys finishing second in their race.

The medley relays saw the year 5 girls having a clear 1 length lead thanks to really strong legs by Daisy (backcrawl), Freya (Breaststroke) and Grace (butterfly) that Jemima Chappell had clear water to race home in a commanding first position. The year 3 mixed, year 4 girls and year 4 boys all recorded wins too and with the year 5 boys finishing in second position and sealing a superb night in the pool by all.

Yarrells were crowned overall winners with a clear margin, a total of 96 points to  the second team having only 69 points.

Well done to Lottie Vavasour, Arthur Blight, Aimee Kelly, Izzy Shrimpton, Jayden Coombes, Ayden Dirks, Josh Oxley, Nancy Taylor, Elizabeth Dawson, Isla McPhail, Max Phillips, Joe Caton, Josh Somerville, Albert Johnson, Freya Blundell, Jemima Chappell, Daisy Day and Grace Crowe.
