Over the past couple of weeks, children in Years 1-6 have been busy writing lovely poems about minibeasts for this competition. I was very impressed with the quality of the writing and the decorations – it’s so lovely to see our children taking such pride in what they do.
After much deliberation, Mr Roberts-Wray and I decided on the finalists who were able to read their poems today in St Dunstan’s Church to an audience of parents, teachers and children from our own and other schools in Upton. The Mayor presented the certificates and awards.
Many congratulations to our finalists: Oscar Oxley, Leila Phillips, Matilda Watson, Seb Burdin, Lottie Vavasour, Araceli Booth, Tilly Parsons, Lulu Smith and Charlie Gilpin. They all read their poems beautifully and were a credit to our school.
Special congratulations to: Matilda Watson, who achieved 3rd place and Oscar Oxley who achieved 2nd place in the under 8yrs category; and to Charlie Gilpin, who achieved 3rd place and Tilly Parsons who came first in the over 8yrs category. A very successful morning!
Our thanks to the organisers of Upton-in-Bloom for giving our children this opportunity to share their work.
