Yarrells Winning Success at South West Schools Biathle
Yesterday, 21st May 2017, 24 pupils from Yarrells travelled to Leweston to compete at the South West Schools Biathle against 42 schools. Biathle is a run-swim-run competition and is quite a new sporting event for Yarrells. The children have shown a real commitment to the sport by putting in extra practice during the Yarrells afterschool Triathlon club and travelling to competitions at the weekend; the results are proof of this.
Yarrells had some incredible results and showed real grit and determination throughout each category with:
Lottie Vavasour 1st (Year 3 girls)
Elizabeth Dawson 1st (Year 4 girls)
Jayden Coombes 2nd (Year 4 boys)
Ollie Crowe 4th (Year 4 boys)
Nancy Taylor 4th (Year 4 girls)
Max Phillips 4th (Year 5 boys)
There was more success in the team competitions:
Year 4 boys A team 1st
Year 3 girls A team 2nd
Year 4 boys B team 3rd
Year 5 boys A team 3rd
The next competition is the National Schools’ Biathle Championships in June where we are looking at taking 50 pupils to compete.
