Yarrells Earthshot Day – Friday 5 November

We have been inspired by the incredible people coming up with solutions to tackle environmental issues all over the world, thanks to The Earthshot Prize.  As a result we are having an Earthshot Day on Friday 5th November at Yarrells School & Nursery to raise money for WWF and Clean Jurassic Coast, dressing up as endangered animals and holding a cake sale.

All the children will be planting trees on the school grounds and learning about biodiversity. We have organised for some pupils to do a beach clean with Oly Rush, who swam around the Isle of Wight to raise awareness of plastic pollution. DEED are coming to do a workshop about recycling and what then happens to our waste. We have a science dome for all the children, offering a range of workshops. Teachers are planning activities linking to the Earthshot goals in dance as well as making bees wax wraps. We even have a visiting hedgehog expert. Our Year 5’s are presenting an entertaining assembly to parents and pupils on the Earthshot prize, featuring Prince William and the Queen!

We are so looking forward to our Earthshot Day and raising money and awareness for the WWF and Clean Jurassic Coast as well as The Earthshot Prize!!
