Yarrells School Earthshot Day – 05.11.21

On Friday 5th November we had our Yarrells Earthshot Day. We have had the most marvellous time celebrating the environment at Yarrells, raising awareness of the importance of conserving habitats and spaces across the world and raised £506.45 for the World Wildlife Fund and Clean Jurassic Coast through coming to school dressed as endangered animals and the cake sale – what a day!

All lessons and activities have been based on an environmental theme throughout today and the children have enjoyed the wonder of full immersion in a Science Dome. planted trees in the West Wood with the Estates Team and litter picked at Lake Pier together with Oly Rush.

Whilst the day has been enormous fun, we have tackled some serious issues today, too. A representative from DEED has been running workshops with our senior pupils, looking at recycling and waste and links to climate change and examining potential solutions.
