Parent & Toddler Groups

At Yarrells School & Nursery we run parent, baby & toddler groups; Baby Steps; Music Box music class, and Happy Feet dance class. They are open to all and held during term time at Yarrells School in Upton, near Poole, with free on site parking.

Baby Steps

Free Baby and Parent group – Come along, have a coffee, a chat and play.

Mondays at 13:45 – 14:15

Baby Steps with Karen Huish (Yarrells Early Years Practitioner)

Karen, our professional Early Years Practitioner, will be on hand to give advice on the following subjects you may need help with:

  • Separation anxiety
  • Sleeping
  • Tantrums
  • Fussy eater
  • Toilet training
  • Breastfeeding

Music Box

Exciting FREE parent & toddler class to encourage a joy of music.

Mondays at 14:30 – 15:00

Age 18 months to 3 years

Music Box is an exciting FREE parent and toddler class, which will encourage a joy of music from an early age, with lots of singing, moving and playing instruments. Your child will develop their intellectual, physical, social and emotional skills whilst using their creative energy to build confidence.

Here at Yarrells School we are passionate about music, believing every child should have the opportunity to sing, play and move throughout their whole school career.  Singing and playing music benefits a child’s whole learning development.

Happy Feet

A FREE class  for parents/carers and young toddlers to dance together.

Thursdays at 10:00 – 10:30

Age 18 months to 3 years

Happy Feet is taught by dance teacher Alison May, who has 20 years experience.  She says “the main focus for our mummy (or daddies or grandparents) and me classes is fun, fun, fun. The class encourages musicality, creativity, imagination and a love of dance and movement using a variety of props. Each week the little ones will learn the basics of dance movement whilst exercising and having fun.

“Enjoy the time bonding with your child and creating lasting memories.”

Wild Woods

Learning through experience within a woodland setting in a hands-on manner to develop their

self-esteem and confidence.

FREE Parent/Carer & Child Swim Sessions.

Thursdays at 9:45am to 10:30am

Age 9 months plus


Splash-Around is a FREE parent & Child swimming session starting at Yarrells School & Nursery in the Summer Term.

The session will have a qualified lifeguard on duty but a parent/carer are to swim with the child.

There are changing facilities and free on site parking.

Talking Tunes

Exciting FREE parent & toddler class to develop language and communication.

Age 18 months to 30 months


Talking Tunes is a toddler group designed to help children develop their language and communication skills through singing and turn taking activities.

Baby Sensory

Time for parent and baby to come together with creative play, massage, tummy time, movement, visual development, textures, scents and music.

Little Dreamers Baby Massage

5 week course at 13:00 – 14:30 (Next course starting on Thursday 5th September)

Learn how to massage your baby in a welcoming and supportive class. Run by Katherine with the world leading international association of infant massage (IAIM).

Massage is a lovely way for you to express your love and care for your baby. Massage can soothe your baby and help with sleep. Massage has many added benefits for your baby, including improving weight gain, aiding digestion, improving circulation, easing teething pain, relief from wind, colic and constipation, reduced crying and emotional distress, sinus issues and much more! Little Dreamers Baby Massage classes will teach you how to give your baby a full body massage, including how to prepare for the massage, when it is safe and not safe to massage your baby, the different types of oils which can be used safely, the benefits of baby massage and much more.

The power of touch through baby massage can be very effective, not only for the baby receiving the massage, but also for the person giving the massage. Benefits can be of both a physical and mental nature.
