Charities

Giving back is part of who we are.

At Yarrells, we believe that helping others is an integral part of life. From the youngest children in Nursery to our Year 6 leaders, every pupil plays a part in making a difference, learning that kindness, generosity, and community spirit are values worth living by.

Throughout the academic year, Yarrells supports both local and national charities through special events, fun days, and pupil-led initiatives, the majority organised by our wonderful Year 6 Events and Charity Committee. Charity Days are of high importance at Yarrells, showing school spirit while providing valuable and meaningful learning experiences for every child.

Our Year of Giving - 2024/2025

Comic Relief - Crazy Hair Day
Pupils went all out, cupcake holders, pipe cleaners, and a whole lot of hairspray. Staff weren't spared either. Yarrells raised £139 for Comic Relief.

Young Minds - Children's Mental Health Week
Pupils wore yellow and spent time learning about their own mental health through activities and games, an important topic that Yarrells takes seriously. Yarrells raised £182 for Young Minds.

Poole Food Bank
Our annual donation was the largest yet, Year 6 pupils filled a minivan with produce and helped stack the shelves ready for the community. A hands-on lesson in local generosity.

Rags 2 Riches
Families donated unwanted clothing and materials for families in Ukraine. By re-using and recycling, Yarrells raised £80.76, which was spent on eco-friendly resources.

House of Opportunity - Shoebox Appeal
Children filled beautifully wrapped shoeboxes with Christmas gifts for vulnerable children and families around the world. Watching them loaded onto the minibus, on their way to bring happiness to those in need, was a truly uplifting moment.

#Willdoes - Swanalulu Festival
Yarrells proudly supports this local charity promoting young people's wellbeing. Our children painted and designed banners for the Swanalulu Festival, creative, community-spirited, and a lot of fun.

Wear it Wild Day - WWF & Motor Neurone Disease Association
Pupils and staff dressed in animal print, onesies, and all manner of wild clothing while learning about the WWF's vital work. A collective wild marathon, a cross-country course set and measured by Year 6 leaders, raised an impressive total of £1,834. Half went to the WWF, and half to the Motor Neurone Disease Association, inspired by a former Yarrells parent.

RNLI - Christmas & Summer Fairs
Following a democratic whole-school vote, the Events and Charity Committee chose the RNLI as this year's fair beneficiary. Stalls, games, a visit from Father Christmas, and the legendary Soak the Teacher stall, which will not be forgotten in a hurry. Yarrells raised £311 for the RNLI.

Through events, donations, and the incredible commitment of our pupils, parents, and staff, Yarrells raised thousands of pounds for charity in 2024–25, supporting local food banks, international aid, wildlife conservation, mental health, and more.

Charity, kindness, and community are at the heart of life at Yarrells.

Come and see it for yourself, Mrs Cunningham, our Head, personally welcomes every prospective family for a tour.
