Inspection Reports
Yarrells School and Nursery is inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) on behalf of the Department for Education. ISI inspections assess the quality of pupils' academic and personal development, the effectiveness of the school's leadership and management, and compliance with independent school standards.
ISI Inspection 2025 — Significant Strength
In October 2025, Yarrells was inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate. Following the inspection, the school was awarded an ISI Significant Strength, the highest commendation the ISI can grant. This places Yarrells among only a small number of schools nationally to have received this recognition.
The Significant Strength was awarded in recognition of the exceptional depth of learning demonstrated by pupils across the school.
Inspectors noted that pupils engage with their learning with genuine curiosity and enthusiasm, and that the school's approach to developing confident, well-rounded individuals is reflected clearly in the outcomes for children at every stage.
What is the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI)?
An ISI Significant Strength is awarded when inspectors identify a particular area of exceptional practice that goes beyond the standard inspection framework. It is distinct from — and rarer than — an overall 'Excellent' grading. Schools can receive an Excellent rating without being awarded a Significant Strength. The commendation is reserved for schools demonstrating genuinely outstanding provision in a specific area.
